How do I switch from another distributor?
Keep the release consistent
Use the same master audio, artist name, release title, track titles and existing ISRCs whenever possible.
Avoid removing too early
A common approach is to deliver the replacement first, confirm it is live and mapped correctly, then request removal from the previous distributor.
Store history is platform-controlled
Matching metadata and ISRCs can help platforms recognize the same recording, but preservation of streams, playlists or other history cannot be guaranteed.
Gather the existing release data
Export or record the current UPC, track ISRCs, exact titles, artist credits, original release date and master files. Replacing identifiers or submitting a slightly different version can create a new product rather than maintaining continuity.
Coordinate the overlap
Discuss the delivery date with the new distributor before requesting a takedown from the previous one. Temporary duplicate listings or a short gap can occur because stores process both requests independently; avoiding disruption cannot be guaranteed.
Verify the destination pages
After migration, check the correct artist pages, audio and track count on key platforms. Historical statistics, playlists, links and user-library associations may not transfer in exactly the same way between services. Report mismatches with both old and new URLs.
